Buttercups

Inspired by the buttercup-filled fields that brighten the valleys of the Lake District during summertime, this design captures the landscape's richness and movement as seen from above. Sweeping across the valley floor in vibrant yellow, the flowers create a patchwork of colour beneath the surrounding fells.
The repeating pattern is built through intricate layers of interlocking circles within the buttercup petals, creating depth, texture and rhythm throughout the design. Overlapping forms echo the bird’s-eye view of the fields as they appear when looking down from the mountains onto the valley below. Designed for soft furnishings, the pattern brings together detailed craftsmanship and the natural beauty of the Lake District in a flowing, immersive composition.
